Smoke Detector Program
The Smoke Detector Program

February 24th, 2005, CHBA-Central Alberta, in collaboration with the City of Red Deer Emergency Services, ING Canada, ATCO Gas, RONA Home Centre, and Adviser Graphics, launched ‚“The Smoke Detector Program".

During the Year-round Campaign fire crews throughout Red Deer will make contact with almost 10,000 citizens.  Fire crews target select areas of the city offering free fire & injury inspections to homeowners or tenants.  During the inspection, if crews find a smoke detector not installed, not working or older than 10-years, one is installed, replaced, or re-batteried on the spot at no charge to the home-owner or tenant.

Crews also focus on identifying and educating homeowners or tenants about fire & injury related issues, uncapped gas lines, carbon monoxide alarms, and furnace efficiency as they inspect the home with the resident.

Thank you to the Red Deer Express for their great support, and now Red Deer Transit...
