What is a "PHBIA Luncheon"?
The Professional Home Builders Institute of Alberta (PHBIA) provides educational sessions from a wide range of sources, for a variety of people, over a lunch hour, every fourth Wednesday, September to June.
Sessions are suggested by industry members with curriculum and academic standards developed by industry specialists from recognized academic institutions and governments.
Sessions are designed to be interactive for immediate practical application for industry members' changing "day-to-day" and long-range needs.

Synopsis:
Several critical issues relating to trusses have surfaced in the last year.
The first deals with the new tie-off requirements for roofers and how this impacts trusses. The second deals with when to repair or replace a damaged truss.
The third speaks to extra bracing required on the site, as well as when and how truss bracing can contribute to the stability of a wall in a vaulted ceiling situation.

Mr. Kelly was a member of the HIRF Stakeholder and Fire Technical Council Reviews which influenced the recommendations to better protect Part 9 and Part 3 residences from fire.
This session will provide participants the background and the chance to discuss High Intensity Residential Fires, and how you can work with City of Red Deer Emergency Services, and Inspections and Licensing personnel as the Industry enters a new reality. |
